Hemp oil, also known as hemp seed oil, is made from hemp, a cannabis plant like the drug marijuana but containing little to no tetrahydrocannabinol (THC, the psychoactive drug in pot), an ingredient in marijuana that allows users to feel some of the high that is associated with the drug. The butter from the nuts also helps bring out the nutritional benefits of the seeds. The seeds should be soaked in the water overnight, if possible, and then the water drained before using it in the baking. The amount of water used will depend on the texture of the ingredient you are making and if you are using a cold wet item like a bread or muffin base.
